The 2010 harvest was the smallest that German growers have experienced in 25 years : it amounted to 76 million 9-litre cases (a little less than 6.9 million hectolitres), down 25% compared to 2009, which itself was 8% less than 2008.
In the short term, this situation will slow down the recovery of the consumption of German wines in Germany.
