Latest update : 29 November 2019.
Harvest is over since a couple of weeks now. Wines are going through malo now and everything looks just fine after a long, long harvest this year… The first results are promising, with a beautiful base of Cinsault and Grenache for the cuvée Tradition, with Aramon, Picpoul noir, Morastell, tasty as always, eager to join the Carignan in the cuvée Les Mal Aimés... It certainly is a great vintage for Syrah, showing as majestic and elegant as ever. To be (...)
continueAfter diligent consideration, we have taken the decision to baptise our vintage champagne and giving it a name like all our other cuvees. Henceforth, this wine that some of you know as being simply labelled “2008”, will proudly bear its history and origin as cuvee “Deux Terres” (Two Terroirs).
To make this champagne, two vineyards, two terroirs were chosen in 2008: One in Cramant at the Côte des Blancs, the other in Barbonne-Fayel at the Coteaux du Sézannais. Both vineyards are genetically (...)
After having elected Cahors “wine region of the year” in 2016, Michel Bettane wished to make the appelation its guest of honor on June 1st and 2nd at the Grand Tasting Bettane & Desseauve at the Bellagio Hotel in Shanghai. A conference dedicated to the renaissance of the appellation and a tasting commented by Michel Bettane were the highlights of this event bringing together 1,200 Chinese professionals and specifiers who "have often indicated that they prefer the French Malbec from Cahors (...)
continueThe annual “Big Bordeaux Tasting” organized by VINUM is less strict than the title suggests, as it opens its doors to some other appellations. This year, on Monday, June 4th, vigneronne Nathalie Vignier and winemaker Sebastian Nickel will be in Zürich to propose the J.Vignier wines for tasting: Pure Blanc de blancs Champagne from various Grand Cru locations in the Côte des Blancs, as well as from the mysterious Coteaux du Sézannais. A young champagne brand from a traditional winery based in (...)
continueWe love to welcome friends in our house. Create a menu to delight our guests, decorate the table with style, a beautiful bouquet and a few candles, compile a playlist to create a pleasant soundscape, so that everyone feels comfortable in a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. And then comes the wine ... The right wine to accompany a meal, or the right dish for the wine? It depends on which inspiration comes first.
All of this may seem a bit cumbersome, just to spend a pleasant evening among (...)

It’s now more than a year when I took over the Santa Duc wine shop in the centre of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. To me, the presence of Santa Duc in what may be considered as the most famous village of the Côtes-du-Rhône, was inevitable. Thus, more than just a simple wine shop, it is a part of the winery.
One might imagine that it is quite difficult for a sommelier to look after the wines of just one estate. But Santa Duc has a very diverse offer. There are the single vineyard selections from Gigondas (...)
Some may have noticed that with the vintage 2015 our Cuvee Le Cèdre Héritage has also changed its packaging: burgundy bottle, new label with a modern, elegant design ... A new appearance, which for us is more in line with the evolution of the wine over the last years: Intense Aromas, light, fine tannins and the fresh, pleasant acidity, typical of Malbec wines from Cahors. A wine for everyone and for every (...)
continueFor the summer, I spontaneously think about three wines.
Les Grands Calcaires 2015: The quartet Clairette, Ugni blanc, Picpoul and Bourboulenc gives an incredible energy to the wine, while the Grenache blanc and Viognier bring in juiciness and a fine perfume. The wine makes me dream of a shaded terrace and grilled fish. Santa Duc Les Plans Rosé 2016: Bright, delicate colour, ripe, red fruits, a handful of citrus, fresh and gentle on the palate ... Perfect for an aperitif and summer cuisine. (...)
We believe in sustainable agriculture. Only grapes from our own vineyards are used to make the wines. They come from selected vineyards with an unique terroir. Through low yields and meticoulous quality control, we aim to produce tasty and healthy grapes. We have decided to ferment in steel tanks which preserves the purity and character of the fruit. Thanks to their naturally strong freshness and minerality, all wines do malolactic fermentation. This increases their aromatic diversity. (...)
