The wines of Yves Gras

Organic farming in the vineyards, low yields, optimum ripening with respect to a balanced taste of the grapes, late picking and slight defoliation in order to expose the grapes to the late summer sun. The aim of these efforts is to unify the ripe aromas and powerful tannins with the natural freshness of the terroir.

Selected crops are put in the tanks for whole bunch maceration, including stems, skins and pips. Maceration periods are long, frequently for several weeks, and ripening of the wines is adapted to every cuvee and every vintage, in steel tanks, in oak barrels or in the bottle, which may take several months or years.

In the following you will find a short description of a selection of our wines

SABLET BLANC - LES FOURNAS

Viognier 35 %, Bourboulenc 35 %, Grenache 15 %, Clairette 15 %.
The hand picked grapes are pressed immediately and the must is fermented at low temperatures. The wine is aged and bottled without malolactic fermentation yielding a typical white wine from the southern Rhone, with a refreshing acidity and the generosity of a Mediterranean Viognier.

VACQUEYRAS - LES AUBES

A cuvee made of grapes from two different Vacqueyras terroirs, “Les Aubes” and “La Ponche”. Handpicked and sorted, a long maceration for a delicate tannin extraction, aged for 18 months on lees.
